Detecting and Treating Shoulder Impingement Syndrome
The Role of Scapulothoracic Dyskinesis
Poor scapulothoracic dynamics is a frequent cause of shoulder impingement in patients who play sports that involve overhead motion such as throwing. Finding evidence of medial or lateral scapular winging or scapular asymmetry on the physical exam provides a springboard for guided rehabilitation and return to activity.

An analysis of how colleges manage eating disorders and menstrual dysfunction found that most screen for the conditions; however, the standardization and quality of screening, prevention, and treatment varies widely among schools.

Slipped Capital Femoral Epiphysis in an Obese Teenager
Limping and pain at the hip, thigh, or knee are classic symptoms of slipped capital femoral epiphysis in adolescents. However, the patient's symptoms are sometimes missed and are attributed to excessive weight or sports trauma, as in this report of a male 13-year-old recreational football player. Timely identification and treatment increase patients' chances for a good prognosis.
